Rumor has it that Netflix Instant is coming soon to Linux!
A couple or so engineers from Netflix gave away the slip in one recent OS conference that was held last month in Portland, OR, USA. According to these engineers Netflix has some people working on a proprietary client made specifically for Linux systems and that it should be available within the next year.

What is it? “Open-source video-editor specifically focused on TV production using HDSLR cameras”, that aims to be the world’s first with real-time collaborative video editing capabilities.
This video editor is being designed for pros. I am not into video editing of any kind. In fact, I don’t even own a HDSLR camera or any pro-type camera, but a measly point-and-shoot Cybershot from Sony that is over 4 years old. Certainly, this is not for noobies!
The default Unity launcher quicklist for Firefox could certainly do with a few additional options. It’s easy to add a few more.
This tip I got from AskUbuntu. There are more quicklist tips available and you can read it at this page – http://askubuntu.com/questions/35488/list-of-custom-launchers-quicklists-for-unity. I only wanted to add a few more useful options than the ones given.
Yes you are reading that right. Angry Birds, the super-famous game on Android, iPhone and tablets alike, is now playable on a desktop web browser. Probably not all web browsers but it runs on Chrome and Firefox. Supposedly it is only for chrome, as that little logo at the tail end of the Birds, implies. However I was able to run it smoothly on Firefox versions 4.0 and 4.0.1. My brother, also played with it on Firefox 3.6.x version.
What is that narwhal doing there on Google Maps?
If you want to see it live on Google Maps, coordinates are: 51°29’30.82″ N 0°07’28.59″ W
Is that Natty the Narwhal?
Unfortunately, I couldn’t get the Narwhal to show when I tried to embed the map here. I guess it only works when you are viewing it directly on Google Maps. Grabbed a screenshot instead. (Hope Google doesn’t mind at all.)
And then there is the matter of April Fools’ being today. Maybe the narwhal won’t be swimming in that river for very long. Better a screenshot to capture this historic moment.
Today, March 22nd of 2011, marked the release of the newest iteration of our most beloved free and open source web browser – Firefox 4.
After waiting how many long months, countless beta versions and a handful of release candidates, the much awaited arrival of the final and stable version of Firefox 4 is now.
Was it worth the wait? Oh hell yeah!
If I can’t hibernate my desktop, not to worry, Firefox always has the Restore Previous Session feature. The newer builds of Firefox 4 beta – right now I’m still using 4.0b12pre – will no longer ask the user to save the session if there is more than one tab open. Its default action is Save Session. So don’t be surprised.
Back to Ubuntu now and this time it’s 10.10 Maverick Meerkat. There are a lot of things that seems odd for this supposedly latest and most advanced stable version of the Ubuntu series. I think I liked 10.04 better. It was more refined.
So I haven’t been blogging much lately. Aside from the fact that I’ve been busy at work and life and love, I had this episode with my SeaGate hard disk. It had too much disk errors that I had it replaced. It took almost a month or more than that to get my 500GB disk replaced. Certainly a very poor service for SeaGate.
