Are you getting this error message on Ubuntu 11.10 when trying to open .xlsx files by double-clicking?
Dragging the said file to Launcher where Calc sits, the file is opened without a problem. Opening it from LibreOffice itself is not a problem too. So why do you get an error when you double-click the file from Nautilus?
A big surprise today when I clicked on Update Manager to check what new and interesting updates are available, when lo and behold, Firefox 7 is in the list! Hurray! I’ve been waiting eagerly for this update for a time now.
Here are a few easy steps to make OpenOffice.org start more quickly. Aside from using the quickstarter applet (commonly used by default on Windows) which preloads OpenOffice.org, following these steps should contribute to a faster start-up speed.
I’m no expert but in my observations OpenOffice.org runs faster on Gnome than on KDE and Windows. Why is that? Maybe it is because of the fact that this application requires Gnome libraries to run thus is slower in KDE when it is calling up the required dependencies. For windows, well i really don’t know. It starts the slowest on that operating system.
